“Our country needs their new skills now more than ever.”

SAN DIEGO – December 12, 2017 – Workshops for Warriors (WFW) is a California licensed, board governed, fully audited 501(c)(3) nonprofit school that trains, certifies, and helps place Veterans, Wounded Warriors and Transitioning Service Members into advanced manufacturing careers. Graduates of Workshops for Warriors earn nationally recognized portable and stackable credentials in CAD/CAM programming, CNC machining and welding.

“These men and women have the passion, drive and dedication to move forward and obtain the education needed to pursue a new career in the manufacturing space,” said Hernàn Luis y Prado, Founder and CEO of Workshops for Warriors. “Our country needs their new skills now more than ever, and we’re honored to have played a role in giving Veterans the professional opportunities they deserve and our country the skilled workforce that it so greatly seeks.”

This event will include a Special Guest speaker, Mr. Ray Santos, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and CNC Prototyping Machinist at Facebook.

Each semester runs 16-weeks and offers students nationally recognized credentials from top industry organizations such as the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, Mastercam University (computer-aided manufacturing), SolidWorks (computer-aided design), the American Welding Society, Immerse2Learn, and the National Coalition for Certification Centers.

Founded in 2008, WFW offers classes in Advanced CNC Manufacturing, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) programming, welding/fabrication, and machinery repair. Since 2011 WFW has trained and certified more than 457 Veterans, earning more than 2668 nationally recognized third-party credentials. In 2016, 93.2% of Workshops for Warriors graduates obtained jobs in advanced manufacturing after completing their programs.

WFW solves two systemic economic issues: rebuilding America’s advanced manufacturing infrastructure and providing a nationally scalable and repeatable model to train, certify, and help place transitioning service members and Veterans into advanced manufacturing careers.

Spring semester begins January 2, 2018. To learn about enrollment or donating to help support the program and its mission, visit wfw.org.
