What credentials can I earn at Workshops for Warriors?
All credentials are nationally recognized and accredited by the top manufacturing institutes in the United States. Click here to see a list of credentials Workshops for Warriors students can earn.
How do I enroll in the school?
The first step in the enrollment process is to complete our online application form which can be found here. Please choose your application based on your veteran status.
I submitted an application, now what?
Once your application has been received, we will send you an email that will detail the next steps in our enrollment process. The email will have the subject line “Next Steps For Enrollment.” Ensure that you have read this email in its entirety, as there are several action items that you will need to complete.
What is the cost?
For our civilian students, the cost varies from $119 to $179 per class hour, depending on your chosen program.
We accept VA educational benefits. We do not accept Federal Student Loans.
For all students, regardless of veteran status, there will be an out-of-pocket expense for personal protective equipment (PPE), and books that will be used during the training. The cost for this equipment varies depending on your chosen program. The approximate cost for PPE for our welding program is $300. The approximate cost for PPE for our machining program is $50.
When will I know that will be attending?
Within four weeks of completing the enrollment process. Active duty timeline may vary pending command approval.
Is orientation mandatory?
Yes, orientation is mandatory for all prospective students. At orientation, you will get to tour our facility, learn more about the school, have a one-on-one interview, and receive any necessary paperwork. For active duty service members, arrangements can be made in extenuating circumstances at the admission team’s discretion.
I applied, but I haven’t heard anything. What's going on?
If your application was submitted fully, please check your email’s junk or spam folder. We use an email service and sometimes our emails get marked as spam. If you have checked your junk or spam folder and still do not see a response from us, please email admissions@wfw.org.
What courses do you offer?
Workshops for Warriors provides training and opportunities to earn credentials in CNC machining, welding, and more. Visit our programs page to learn more.
How long is the program?
Each program at Workshops for Warriors is 16 weeks long. We have three semesters a year:
- Spring Semester: Begins early January, ends mid-April
- Summer Semester: Begins late April, ends mid-August
- Fall Semester: Begins late August, ends mid-December

Can any veteran, wounded warrior, or transitioning service member be accepted into Workshops for Warriors' programs?
Veterans, wounded warriors, and transitioning service members can be accepted if they meet the following requirements:
- Transitioning service members who are active duty Navy or Marine Corps must go through MCCS for enrollment approval. MCCS will assist in getting no-cost TAD orders issued from the command. Active duty service members must have a minimum of 180 days left prior to separation.
- Veterans with an Honorable Discharge will receive preference for enrollment.
- All students must be able to commit to attending classes at our San Diego location for the length of the program and at the times scheduled.
- All students must sign a statement confirming that they understand our attendance policy. Three tardies equal one absence. Five absences will result in immediate dismissal from our program.
Do you offer training in 3D Printing?
Additive manufacturing is a part of the advanced curriculum course offerings for our Machining Program.
Do you guarantee employment after I’ve completed the program?
While we cannot guarantee employment for our students, we teach several professional and personal development workshops during the program that will put you on the right path. We also host a hiring event on our campus and invite companies from all over the U.S. to come and interview our students. Because of our commitment to our students, we have a 94 percent success rate in connecting our students to meaningful employment.
Is the school accredited?
Workshops for Warriors (WFW) is a State-licensed, board-governed, fully audited, 501(c)(3) nonprofit school founded in 2008. Workshops for Warriors is a private institution and is approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Education (BPPE). “Approved” means the school operates in compliance with state standards as set forth in CEC and 5, CCR. This institution is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. A student enrolled in an unaccredited institution is not eligible for federal financial aid.
Do you accept the GI Bill®?
