Student Stories

Sam, Class of 2019

Dennis is a former veteran turned Workshops for Warriors’ graduate who is studying to earn a bachelor’s degree in information technology management. Dennis is employed by WFW Industries, the social entrepreneurship machine and fabrication shop running in the Workshops for Warriors facility.

“I really had no clue as to what I would be doing upon exiting the military. I just knew that I enjoyed being around other veteran’s and wanted to do something that made a difference. All I ever hoped to achieve was to be able to provide for my family and live a simple life without struggles.”

Dennis was enlisted in the Marine Corps for 21 years, and, upon his withdrawal, struggled adapting to and finding meaningful work in civilian life.

Workshops for Warriors is appealing to Dennis because it allows him to work with and help other veterans, and it offers free nationally recognized certifications.

“WFW has made such a huge difference in my life. It has given me direction when I would probably be lost. I feel as if I fit in around WFW. WFW has made it so that I no longer have to worry about providing for my family. Working at WFW has been, and hopefully will be for a long time, a very rewarding job.”
